Surviving

So about a week has gone by since I bought my last item. Pretty good, no? I'm no longer feeling guilty because I'm not buying anything. Yay! But I have started looking at dresses for the Winter Dance next year. Its a little early, I know, but its my first formal dance. I missed the other ones so I am really excited about this one. I'm thinking a one-shoulder dress in a deep red or green or blue. Its never too early to start looking! But I'm doing just fine not buying anything-well- more like surviving.

Confession of a Shopaholic

Ok. I cracked. The pressure finally got to me. I lasted a week without buying anything. But then I went to the mall with one of my friends, and what do you know! Victoria's Secret was having a semi-annual sale. That means 75% off some great deals. I simply couldn't resist buying a $2 ahhdorable makeup bag. It was a great deal and I needed a makeup bag. So win-win? Not quite. It may just be me, but I always feel guilty after buying something, no matter if it was a good deal or not. I think its my mother's frugality and lack of materialism (pardon the big words) kicking in there. So even though it was a great deal, I still felt guilty! But I'm starting over with a clean slate. I don't need anything else. Maybe I CAN go the entire summer without buying anything. Keep reading to find out.

Day 1 under the sun

Day 1- not one flip flop! Thats right: I did not buy an single thing today, including not clothes. I have observed though, people who just bought clothes today just because they felt like it and they had the money. Thats what I'm trying to avoid doing: buying things just because I can. Sure I could go to the mall and blow all my money. Its the Gossip Girl thing to do. But I don't need to. I've got enough clothes that WILL last me the summer. All right enough preaching. If anyone even reads this blog, drop comments like they're out of stlye ponchos! Let me know what YOU think.

A New Beginning

I have decided to revamp this blog. Its going to document my summer. But theres a catch: its a summer without shopping. Thats right I am going the entire summer without buying anymore clothes, shoes, purses, necklaces, or things I just dont need. I want to see if its going to change my life. :) Hopefully, if I'm lucky, it will. Wish me luck on my journey!

Hey hey hey! If you watch American Idol, you know Adam Lambert! He is my absolute favorite! I have been his fan from the start. I saw his first audition in San Francisco and it was amazing! He was in Wicked! I love his stlye and how he is classy punk. He is way cooler than the Jonas Brothers!! He is also really nice ,too. He always has a smile on his face. I know there have been some pictures going around, but seriously, he is an amazing singer and person. Don't let a few pictures muddy your thoughts about the awesome Adam! Vote vote vote!

Pink!

Hello there! So I found out what Pinkberry was! Its Fro-Yo! I love it! Even though I've never had it, it looks so good! They only have it in New York and California. While we are on the topic of pink, today my friends and I finished our Medieval castle! It looks awesome!! The best part of it is that it's HOT PINK! Yes, it is HOT PINK!! We spray painted it with neon pink spray paint and it looks really cool! On another Pink topic: I love Victoria's Secret PINK! I love the bright collegiate design! It is so cute and I love all their clothes. Well, I hope you have a very pink day!!

These past two days have been the hardest and most devastating that I have ever experienced. I don't know how I am going to recover, but I am going to be sad as long as I need to be sad. I recieved the news on Sunday that my good friend had been killed. She went to my church and I've known her since 3rd grade. My best friend had been murdered. You have propbably heard the story on the news, so I'm not going to repeat any details. I'm going to use this blog as a way to remember my good friend.

She always had a way of brightening up a room. I always felt joy whenever we were in Sunday school class together. We had sleepovers and played games. It seemed like we've grown closer this year more than ever. I felt like I could tell her anything and she would understand. We had been through a lot together.

When I first found out, I was in pure shock. This couldn't have happened to anyone, especially my best friend. I cried the entire day and went to our church to light a candle in the sanctuary. Surprisingly on Monday, I was quite calm. I didn't shed a tear all day. It seemed to go away for the day. But that night, it finally started to sink in: my friend was gone. I cried literally the whole night. Then today, I went to school late because I just needed to sleep in and I wasn't feeling well. Today at school was the worst. Everybody knew and came up to me and said they were so sorry I knew how I felt. I just smiled and said thank you. But they didn't really understand and they might never will. Everything I saw reminded me of my friend and it was hard not to cry.

I really want to go to her service tonight that her school is having, but my mom wants me go to our church and do some grief counceling instead. Then tomorrow is her official service at our church, where me and my other friend will be reading a poem that she wrote. I hope I will be ok and not cry while I am reading.

Right now I am just sad. My family was over yesterday for my aunt's birthday and kept saying "you can wallow in the sadness or keep moving on". I know they meant it right, but right now I just feel like being sad until I'm not sad anymore. They say these things can make you a stronger person, but I don't see how. I just want my friend to know that I love her.peace.

Silver Lining to a Cloud of Sadness

Remeber how I told you that I had an audition for the Secret Garden last Sunday? Well, the audition, I thought, went horrible! I was really nervous so I was shaking during my song and I just didn't think I did my best. But, they held me back and had me sing a more upbeat song and I did! I thought that part went well. Then, the next day, I found out I had a callback for the role of Mary! I was really excited but I had to learn a new song and practice a scene from the script. At the callbacks, there were 3 other girls auditioning for Mary. They were really good! We read the scene and sang the song, which went ok. Then today I got an email saying that unfortunatly, they chose someone else for Mary. I was really upset. But, they did offer me the understudy (person who does the show if the lead can't make it) role for Mary. I think I am going to take it. Something is better than nothing! That was the silver lining to a cloud of sadness. But, this has been a good experience and reinforces the message that there are a lot of kids doing this stuff! Well, I did my best. Hey there! Last night was American Idol! I was right with my predictions! Its Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen. I love Adam and Allison!
In other news, I signed up for an audition for the show The Secret Garden. I'm practicing for the audition and I really hope I get the part! Wish me luck!!!
School has been very dramatic lately. I won't go into detail, but there has been a lot of issues. Grrrrr. It is very frustrating. Well I must go, but good bye!

Back to the 80s

Hello there! I haven't written in forever! I was really busy this weekend. Anyways, so we have this project in LA. We have to do a research paper on whatever we want, it can be anything. So for my topic, I chose fashion in the 70s and 80s. It sounded fun! So I've been researching the 80s, and the fashions are so outrageous, they are funny! I like the parachute pants (they still make them!!), baggy sweaters, and neon legwarmers! I cannot believe that people in the 80s wore shoulder pads like every day! Its sick! To present my project at school, I'm going to put on an 70s and 80s fashion show and have my friends wear all of the ridiculous fads! Sounds like fun! In other news, today was my friend Jordan's birthday so we had some delicious cookie cake and I made her a card! It was fun! Well, have a great day!

TV Night

Hola! Tonight is my TV night when all my favorite shows are on. For starters, theres Ugly Betty. Best show ever! Tonight should be fun because its fashion week in New York and they're going to do an episode about that. Fun! Then at 9:30 is 30 Rock (for the address 30 Rockerfeller Plaza, i just now figured that out, lol). It is my "Next Big Thing" show. It's hilarious! I can't believe that Tina Fey produces, writes, and acts in the show! And impersonated Sarah Palin on SNL! I like the show because its really really funny! Also, today I started watching One Tree Hill on Soap Net. All my friends are obsessed with it, and I can see why! Its a really good drama, and it is being added onto my list of "Next Big Things". Amoung others on the NBT list are:

1. 30 Rock (tina fey is the ultimate multi-tasker!)
2. One Tree Hill (its been around for a while, but I just now discovered it)
3. Hair Ribbons (not the bows, they are tacky, epscially when you have 5 of them on your head. just hair ribbons in your hair)
4. America's Next Top Model (see description for 2)
5. ADAM LAMBERT! (future winner of america idol!!)
6. Sadly, the new show Sonny with a Chance (i can't believe i just wrote that, but I watched a few episodes, and I have to say, its not that bad. i think disney channel is on to something)
7. Pac Sun (my new favorite store! i like the mix of skate and surf. i'm not skater or surfer, but their clothes are cool)
8. Dove Chocolate (amazing chocolate! its so creamy and good!)

American Idol Points of View

Hello there! Last night on American Idol, most people were AWFUL!!!! Casey Carlton has a good voice, but her song was atrocious! It sounded like karoke. The guy who sang 'Hicktown' was ok, but I don't think he's moving on. I think Danny Gokey(amazing!!! He is totally going far!) Alexis-Grace(she is so cool!) and I'm not sure who else should move on. Maybe Tatiana, I don't know. I was actually pleasantly surprised with her performance, considering she was really awful and annoying in Hollywood. My favorite still so far is Adam Lambert, from San Francisco. He is amazing! He was in Wicked too! good luck Adam(he looks like all the Jonas Brothers!) Bye!

School Project, Facebook, and Myspace

Hello there! We are starting this huge project in language arts. We have to write 20 note cards, a 4-5 page essay, a speech, and a visual on any topic that we choose. Big project! For my topic, I'm doing Fashion in the 70s and 80s. Fun, huh? I really want to have a fashion show and dress my friends up in 70s and 80s fashions!
Ok, so lately, i've really wanted a Facebook because lots of my friends have one. Then I read an article in a magazine about how Facebook is now for old people and the its cool NOT to have a Facebook. That did it. Scratch out Facebook on my to-do list.
Then, I found out that Myspace lowered its age requirement so I could get one. I asked my mom and she said "not right now"!!!! Grrrr! Oh well, I'll get one eventually! Well, have a good day!

Fired Up!

Hello there! I've been on a movie kick lately! I've seen Confessions of a Shopaholic, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and A Cinderella Story in the past weekend. I've also watched waaaaaay more tv than I usually do (Real Housewives of Orange County rock! So does Americas Next Top and Ace of Cakes!) Is this trying to tell me something? Do I need a life? Sometimes, I think I do.

Anyways, I really want to see the new movie Fired Up! It looks hilarious!!! We are crashing, we we are crashing! Peace out!

Confessions of a Shopaholic review

Hello there! I am back from seeing Confessions of a Shopaholic. Overall, I thought it was a great movie. The very beginning was really strong and cute, but then it started to get very spastic, like Bill Nye videos. It was hard to follow for a while in the middle. It was very predictable and I felt like I knew what was going to happen in the end. But, the end was really well done. I loved it! Isla Fischer was a great Rebecca Bloomwood, combining comic dumb-blonde with smart edge. The guy who played Luke Brandon was really good, too! Rebecca's best friend, Sue, looks exactly like Katy Perry! I felt I could sympathize with Rebecca, who has unfasionable, super saving, dorky parents but she still wants to be fasionable. Predictable, but a really good movie. I say: rent it on DVD. Thats all for now!

It's Back!

Hello there! Berry is back from grounding! Yay! My thanks goes out to Bleu who kept up the blog while I was gone. You rock Bleu! Well, today I am going to see Confessions of a Shopaholic. It looks hilarious! I also really want to see Fired Up! Its just another cheerleading movie, but it looks really really funny! My Stupid Dog

I was playing with my dog and he got really really hyper and started running around super fast. He lost control on the kitchen floor and he slid knocking over two chairs and then he ran into the wall, lol! My cat tried to jump out of the way but he ended up under my dog. Poor thing, but he's OK! He's a tough kitty! lol. I'll be posting again later but for now, FAREWELL!

WE DID IT!

We teped Mrs. H's room!!!! It was so much fun!!! If you looked at the room after we were done it was like a stampede of bulls had gone through it. On our way back to our class room Joe droppped a toilet paper roll down the stairs! It was so FUNNY!
We had to take this stupid ap algebra test today. I tried didn't try to hard because I REALLY don't want advanced algebra next year. Wimpy I know but o well, lol.

Eating Play-doh (lol)

Hello there! You are probably wondering: did that psycho person really eat play-doh? Well, I am here to tell you yes! The story: my mom had a meeting today after church, so I was just sitting around, talking to my friend. We were also with the little kids, one of whom had homemade play-doh. We were all playing with it! I asked what was in it, and the little girl said just flour, salt, and food coloring! I thought it sounded edible, so I took a teeny tiny piece and put in my mouth. It was super salty, but surprisingly not that bad! Then my friend tried some too, and she didn't mind it. Pretty soon, everybody had tried a little bit of play-doh! Then, when the kids mom came to get them she said the ingredients in the play-doh were flour, salt, food coloring, and CREAM OF TARTAR! I was like, so I just ate tartar???? What in the world is cream of tartar?! I still have no clue what that is! If anybody knows, will they please tell me? I feel completely stupid!!!

Volunteering!

Hello there! You're welcome, Bleu, It was fun to keep up the blog! I am glad you are writing!
Anyways, I am here to send a message: homeless people are a lot less creepy in person than when you see them on the side of the street. You might be asking: How did I find this out? Well, our Girl Scout troop (yes, I still do Girl Scouts!!) voluteers at the downtown homeless shelter sometimes. We serve a meal to the people at the shelter. At first, I was really scared to be face to face with homeless people. I had always felt bad for them, but I had never done anything for them. Then our Girl Scout troop started volunteering at the shelter. It wasn't creepy or scary serving the people, it was really cool. The sad part was when we went on a tour of the shelter and saw where the homeless slept. Most slept on mats on the floor or cots or bunkbeds. Each was given a small locker to put their belongings in. It was really sad seeing how these people had to live. They are good people but they have made some wrong choices. But, the good part is that they have a help program for the people with addictions or other problems. This time, I tried to smile at everyone there and say hello. I know that these people aren't bad people, they have just made bad decisions. So now, I call on you to think of homeless people not as bums or bad people, but as people, with thoughts and feelings and personalities. Don't just feel sorry for them, DO something to help them.

Ugly Betty!

I am absolutely obsessed with Ugly Betty! I've been watching it since it started, and its grown to be one of my favorite shows! I just watched the last half of the recent episode. I was so sad that Betty moved out of the city! She so should have stayed in Manhatten and followed her dream! But I am totally happy that Mark moved in with Amanda in Betty's apartment. Mark and Amanda are my favorite characters. For some reason, I just don't like Connor, but Wilhelmena is awesome! Daniel is just a really nice guy and so is Claire and Alexis is cool!! I think they should bring Daniel Jr. (Daniel/ Alexis's son. I don't get it either) back from France. He was cute. And what about the YETI program that Betty and Mark were accepted into?? I predict that Betty is going to end up owning her own fashion magazine some day! Well thats all for now!

Getting Bangs!

Hello there! Good news! I am finally getting bangs! After many months of begging my mother, she finally gave in! At first, her response was: I don't want them hanging in you face! No! Her second response was: wait till after the holidays are over, then we'll think about it. No! But the third time is the charm! Today at school was quite monotonous. We took a Social Studies test that was extremely easy! I though it was going to be hard, but it wasn't. We had a sub in math! That was the highlight of my day! No evil math teacher!! It feels like our lunch table is getting smaller and smaller. Today, one of my friends left us to sit with some other kids. Now we are down to 8 people with the occasional 2 guys. Oh well! Its just lunch! I'm hoping the bangs go well. Cross your fingers!
